Crack a lackin’
So, it’s been just under a month since I last posted anything. Don’t worry I’m still alive. Just. I’ve been to Falcon Camp and Soul Survivor Weeks B and C now. Possible reports to come. Also, I still have my video diary from Falcon Camp to finish.
Also, I’m trying to develop a new PHP driven version of my website.

Been a while. Again
So, it’s been a while since I last posted. In that time I’ve passed my theory test (\o/) and been on team at Perrot Hill (One) Falcon Camp. Fun times. So hopefully I’ll have the video diary I did up at somepoint. Hopefully. Also, a week yesterday (Wednesday 4th Aug) I’ll be at Soul Survivor B and will be at the site for about one and a half weeks as I’m also on team for the second week. Should be interesting. Catch you soon!

Website was Down
Due to some sort of fault with Zerneboks payment system the renewal date and invoice date were out of sync. However, Owen being the fab man he is has sorted it out so it should now be alright. \o/
[shameless plug] Zernebok[.co.uk] have been fabulous hosts so far, check them out! [/shameless plug]

Week Three
During my third week I have been working on a project that is actually going to be used by a customer and needs to be ready by the end of the month. In one way this is good as it means there is a real tangible reason to work harder and faster, on the other hand it could be a disaster as I’m still learning Java, which the project is written in. So far so good though. Just another two weeks left to go.

Long Time coming
So, it would appear that I will be camping for two whole weeks this summer. Soul Survivor have finally approved my application to be on the Sound Team. Scary thoughts.

Upgrade
You readers, if I have any, probably won’t notice it but I’ve upgraded to WordPress 3. Soon I’ll actually start on developing my own CMS that will, eventually, mean I can meld my blog and website properly. For now, this will do.

Week 2
So I’m now in week 2 of my work experience placement. I’ve been programming in Java and JavaScript and have also been learning flot, gflot and the GWT. So far so good. As well as learning Java I’ve also been learning OOP too. It would appear that I’ve just about got my head round it now.

First Day
So, yesterday was my first day at work. For work experience. It was really just a normal day at the Oriel Systems office, as I’ve been working with them part-time for a while now. I started off getting the paperwork need for me to actually do the work experience printed for Chris (I think he’s top boss) to check and then set about trying to get Eclipse to work with GWT (Google Web Toolkit) and sometime around lunchtime, i think, I managed to get it working. So i then set about finishing off the XML code for a rather nifty web-based system interface.
The coding is quite weird as it’s XML but with a twist. Using a framework called UIBinder coupled with java an entire application can be produced very quickly. I would post a snippet, and in fact, I probably still will at some point, but no code from the system
I managed to finish off the UI in time to start (trying) to write some java to make the backend for a log viewer. Now, I thought I’d be doing the heavy work of that today, but it appears the office is closed. So I may well end up looking at UIBinder and the GWT here (at home). Just another ~20 days to go.

Summarised Update
I’ve finished all but one of my assignments for college. I’m starting five weeks of work experience next monday, unpaid. I’m still helping with Matrix, still on the church PA rota, still going to Beta… So yeah, same old same old.

Almost there
I’m now halfway through the last week of lectures for year one of my FDSc. And then on the 7th June I start work experience. Should be good fun. Espcially as I don’t get paid. Roll on the summer.
Also, just fyi, I have three assignments still to complete. In three days.
